Struggling with Porn, Discovering Jesus

Sarah* was struggling with a growing porn addiction. Her inability to quit was producing guilt, mood swings, and a feeling of helplessness. It was also undermining her ability to be in a real relationship. Searching for help, Sarah went online. She found an article about women and porn on Issues I Face, one of our websites, and wrote in to request further support.

Theresa*, one of the online mentors, started a conversation with Sarah. As Theresa learned more about Sarah’s situation and shared her own experiences, Sarah began to open up. They started to discuss her beliefs. Sarah hadn’t thought much about her spiritual journey, so Theresa helped guide her towards resources that she would connect with and understand. She explained the gospel and how Sarah could receive Jesus as her Saviour.

Sarah was worried that her sin would prevent her from receiving Christ, but Theresa assured her that this wasn’t the case. “It’s not until we have realized the depth of our sin that we are willing to come to Jesus. And be assured that we can come as we are. His grace is sufficient to cover all our sins — past, present and future.”

After this reassuring conversation, Sarah decided to surrender her life to Jesus.

Sarah recently connected with Theresa to say that ever since she’d received Christ, a lot had changed. “I’m happier than before, my faith is growing stronger, and my bad habits are vanishing little by little.”
