Ali was sitting alone in the glow of his phone screen. He was grieving, desperate, and the silence around him felt heavy. He went online and searched for someone to talk to, not really expecting anyone to care.
He waited in the dark.
And then, a notification chimed. It was Lena, one of our volunteer online mentors.
Because of the prayers and generosity of our ministry supporters, Lena was there. She didn’t try to fix him. She didn’t offer platitudes. She simply held her light up to his. She shared her own heartache of losing her mother years ago, and she shared the hope that had anchored her: “When I put my faith in Jesus, He changed everything.”
For Ali, that message was like a candle flame — gentle, but powerful enough to push back the shadows.
They messaged back and forth about everything from work struggles, deep questions about life, and eventually, the Bible. Then, one night, Lena challenged him to step further into the light. She encouraged him to talk to God directly.
Ali went silent.
For a few days, the inbox was empty. But when the reply finally came, it was clear that the dawn had broken:
“You saved my life. Every message you sent spoke to my heart. I had a dream and it moved me to go to a church nearby and pray. My heart is not dark like before. I see the world differently now, because I started reading the Bible.”
Because a mentor was there to hold the light, Ali surrendered his life to Jesus!
Today, will you help provide online mentoring for people like Ali who, right now, are searching for hope?
Your gift today can change the lives of people who find our websites in their darkest night. A gift of $20 makes sure a mentor like Lena is there when others reach out in their darkness.
