Myra from the Ivory Coast wrote in to our French site early last year. Eloise, a mentor from Quebec, responded and they have been writing back and forth ever since.
Myra's marriage had fallen apart. Her husband was abusive, distrustful and unsupportive, and she lost her joie de vivre (joy of living). When Eloise shared how she turns to God in difficult times in her own life, she was excited to read Myra's response:
“Thank you so much, Eloise. I want to know Jesus. I want to experience him and want him to be my best friend. I want to have a deep intimate connection with him, to be able to talk to him and hear his voice. But I don’t know how.”
What a beautiful opportunity to share the gospel! After carrying so much anger and pain for so long, the Holy Spirit opened Myra's eyes to see that in her struggles, she could draw near to God, too. Eloise shared about Christ's forgiveness with her and she began to trust Jesus as her Savior!
Months later, Myra left her husband. She pleaded for God to heal her heart and to help her genuinely forgive her husband. After weeks of prayer, the Lord softened her heart and returned to her husband!
“Through you, Eloise, God is speaking to me, answering me and comforting me. I bless the name of the Lord for giving you to me.” - Myra
Please pray for Myra and her husband. Ask the Lord to open her husband's eyes to see Jesus as Savior. Pray for Eloise that she would walk in the power of the Holy Spirit and continue to help people around her know Jesus.
